The Gating Process^®

Gate 1:
Whiteboard Phase
In this phase you benefit from the experience we have gained from building over 200 data centres by working with Digital Realty Trust’s design specialists to determine your data centre requirements. At the end of this phase your project will have a documented scope, schematic drawings, schedule and a budget. Only Digital Realty Trust offers this level of internal design expertise with a formal joint development process.

Gate 2:
Preparation Phase
Digital Realty Trust personnel work to complete all of the required tasks necessary to prepare for the construction of your data centre facility. These activities range from executing standard contracts to securing all required insurance and permits. All schedules, budgets and design documentation are set at the conclusion of this gating phase and con-struction is ready to begin

Gate 3:
Construction Phase
Utilising our extensive expertise in data centre design and build-out, Digital Realty Trust personnel oversee the construction of your data centre and provide you with regular status updates to make sure its completed on-time and to your specifications. Every element of this process from monthly reports to change order management is systemised and standard.

Gate 4:
Testing Phase
Also referred to as the “Commissioning” phase, this is the final step prior to your data centre’s formal completion. Every infrastructure system of your data centre from fire suppression to power and cooling is rigorously tested and documented by trained personnel to the highest standard in the industry.

Gate 5:
Turn-Over Phase
All systems have been tested, all punch list items have been completed and now your data centre is turned over to you along with comprehensive operating documentation. And if you choose, Digital Realty Trust can manage your infrastructure via our Critical Facilities Management^® personnel and custom software tools.
